Maintaining Independence
Learning to use your remaining vision to continue to undertake everyday activities, such as driving, reading, working and socialising will help you maintain independence and quality of life.
There are many aids and technologies available that maximise remaining vision, enabling people to continue to read, work and enjoy their leisure and to pursue hobbies. Additionally, specific strategies can improve mobility, health and fitness, and help prevent slips, trips and falls.
It is not unusual for a person with low vision to have feelings of anxiety and helplessness about moving around independently. Mobility training can help them use existing vision and their remaining senses to move around independently.
