Keep on Driving Safely campaign

Macular Disease Foundation Australia's highly successful Keep on Driving Safely project commenced in January 2009 and continues to be rolled out across the country. The campaign comprises a Foundation flyer, which is inserted into driver licence renewals. The flyer raises awareness of macular disease and encourages people to have an eye test and macula check. Recipients may also order a free information kit.
The project was launched in New South Wales by the then NSW Minister for Roads, the Hon. Michael Daley. In NSW the flyer was inserted into renewal notices for five years - totalling over five million insertions. The NSW campaign concluded in 2015 and resulted in requests for 18,000 information kits on macular degeneration.
In 2014 the initiative was launched in the Australian Capital Territory and then in 2015 in Western Australia and South Australia.
The Foundation is grateful to the governments in the participating states that support this public health campaign.
