Mobility Training

Mobility training, provided by many low vision organisations, can help you maintain independence at home, in the workplace and out in the community. It can also improve confidence.
Mobility training is personalised, and tailored to your needs. It may be that you need to travel to the office, walk confidently to the local shops, manage the grocery shopping, or travel on trains and planes.
For many people with vision loss, training is undertaken to maximise the use of their remaining vision and other senses. Mobility trainers will also recommend the use of a variety of aids, from simple white canes to more technical devices.
The first step for anyone with low vision is always to have a low vision assessment. This will identify a person’s individual needs and also assess the need for separate mobility training.
