Research Grants - Applications Open
Applications for Macular Disease Foundation Australia Research Grants Program are now open. Applications close 5 June 2017.
Macular Disease Foundation Australia funds world-leading research which aims to reduce the incidence and impact of macular degeneration. Since the inception of the Research Grants Program in 2011 the Foundation has committed almost $3 million to 13 leading Australian researchers.
The Foundation’s grants are awarded following rigorous evaluation based on the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) guidelines. International peer review ensures successful applicants meet the highest standards.
The Foundation is offering two major funding pools for macular degeneration research to commence in 2018:
Macular Disease Foundation Australia Research Grant: up to $600,000 over 3 years
Blackmores Macular Disease Foundation Australia Research Grant: up to $200,000 over 3 years
Note that applications for projects of all sizes up to $600k and duration up to 3 years are welcome.
Grants are available for researchers, based in eligible Australian institutions, to pursue research into medical, social, low vision or nutritional research into age-related macular degeneration. Relevant faculties, schools and departments include, but are not limited to optometry, ophthalmology, medicine, social work, pharmacy, psychology, nutrition and dietetics.
