Macular Disease Foundation Australia is committed to providing people living with macular disease, their family and carers, with access to relevant support and advice services. MDFA also provides health care professionals with information and resources to help them support their patients.
National Helpline 1800 111 709
MDFA responds to an enormous number of calls every day, providing information, guidance, understanding and support to people living with macular disease, their carers and family, as well as health care professionals. The National Helpline provides an opportunity for in depth conversations about macular disease and its potential impact on quality of life. MDFA's experienced and compassionate Education team seek to ensure callers are fully informed about macular disease and also that they are referred to appropriate support services, including accessing low vision aids and technologies, social services and/or mental health services.
MDFA receives almost 7,000 calls to the National Helpline every year.
Publications
MDFA produces a wide range of publications to support understanding of macular disease including the risk factors, strategies for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and living with vision loss. Publications are available in hard copy, audio CD and online.
MDFA also produces information in other languages including Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Eating for Eye Health Cookbook
In conjunction with our Patron Ita Buttrose and chef Vanessa Jones, MDFA has published a popular cookbook Eating for Eye Health, which is filled with easy recipes that are loaded with ingredients that promote eye health. You can order Eating for Eye Health here.

Newsletters
MDFA produces a newsletter three times a year that focuses on issues relating to macular disease and the macular disease community. It provides updates on MDFA's projects and advocacy campaigns as well as new research. Review the latest newsletters and subscribe to further issues here.
